Sound therapy

Sound Healing: using Quartz Crystal Bowls, Himalayan Bowls and Tuning Forks

Crystal Bowls create a very pure sound wave called a sine wave that has been detected up to a third of a mile from the source. This sine wave carries very well through physical objects.

The resonation from the crystal bowls vibrates the body's cavities which in turn vibrates the crystals and affects the crystalline structure within our bones.

It is this vibration that has a great effect on the spine, a powerful sound resonator, which transmits the energy along the nerve pathways through the circulatory system, endocrine system, tissues, blood and organs.

The energy of the bowls also works on balancing the energy system which consists of the Chakra's and also clearing and cleansing the Auric Field. The bowls balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain and also create an alignment with our higher self.

The human being is often likened to a very complex unique and finely tuned instrument. Every atom, molecule, cell, tissue and organ of the body continually broadcast the frequencies of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual life.

This is the aim in Sound Healing for you to resonate with a piece of music, or the tone you may sound yourself. It may also be a particular bowl whose sound waves penetrate you, touching you where it is needed, balancing you on every level. You are then on a path to healing, and your Auric Field is in 'flow' and you will radiate health

The History of Himalayan Bowls

Himalayan singing bowls (Tibetan Singing Bowls) are a type of bell, specifically classed as a standing bell. The sides and the rim of the bowls vibrate to create the sound when played. According to singing bowl researcher Joseph Feinstein, singing bowls were traditionally used in Asia and the tradition of making sound with the bronze bowls could go as back as far as 3000B.C

Singing bowls were historically made in Tibet, Nepal, India, Bhutan, China, Japan and Korea. The bowls are made of a mixture of different metals, when a bowl is played it produces a tone which is rich in harmonies as each metal resonates at a different frequency.

The sounds of the Himalayan bowl is very soothing and relaxing. I use them in my Reiki practice as part of visualisation. They can be also be used around the body, placed on the body and used on the body as a Sonic massage.

The Tuning Fork is an acoustic resonator, tuned to specific frequencies.

It can be used as a treatment plan to :

Restore the body, bringing it into balance

Ease Exhaustion

Ease anxiety and tension

Hyper sensitive nervous system

Joint problems

Digestive problems

Aid sleep issues, including insomnia or low-quality sleep

Help with concentration issues

Trauma

Pain control

Besides being a deeply effective form of treatment, Tuning fork sound therapy can be a powerful support. Sound's ability to interact with the more subtle structures of our bodies, it can assist shifting of stuck energies at many levels.

To make the most out of any sound healing session you will need to :

  1. Think of specific areas of tension; physically, mentally, spiritually or emotionally that you would like to focus on
  2. Be Open minded
  3. Be conscious of your goals and intentions
  4. Drink plenty of water afterwards as vibrations can prompt self-healing mechanisms in the body
